Yellowstone heatwave

Draw! is an occasional editorial cartoon by Greg Kearney.

Last week in Peaks to Plains we learned that the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem has warmed considerably since 1948, but it still offers the variety of habitat and temperatures that may help many species survive. However, mobile wildlife might fare better than plants and lichens that can’t move to beat the heat. The finding is a reminder for land managers to think about protecting habitats that can provide refuge for species as the climate warms.
