BLM Rawlins Seeks Comments on Grazing Permit Renewals

— July 22, 2013

(Press Release) The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Rawlins Field Office (RFO) is seeking public comments prior to initiating two environmental assessments for grazing permit renewals in the Upper Colorado River Watershed 40 miles southwest of Rawlins, Wyo.

Forty-four livestock grazing permits for 104 allotments in the Muddy Creek, Savery Creek and Adobe Town areas are up for renewal, a process undertaken every 10 years. The permits are currently issued for cattle (92 percent) and sheep (8 percent) with some permits located in the 1.5 million acre checkerboard pattern of mixed public, private and state owned land.

The 2012 Upper Colorado River Watershed Assessment is available at www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/field_offices/Rawlins/range/standards12.html.
