Lin Sanders knows how to get the better of a carney.

Millions have been lured by the vibrant colors, flashing lights, stuffed toys and prizes at the midway booths of the local county fair.

No problem knocking down the three milk bottles with a baseball. Anybody could toss a ring over one of 100 soda bottles. Certainly the basketball will go into the hoop the way it has dozens of times on a regulation court.

But how many people have walked away without the big, stuffed bear? How many knew the milk bottles were made from virtually immovable lead, or that the basketball hoop is just a bit smaller than normal?

Sanders took on the dart-balloon challenge at the Teton County Fair on July 30 and persevered. She overcame dull darts and flaccid balloons to win a prize. Her secret?
