Federal dollars have bailed Wyoming out of its biggest budget issues, for now.

In a presentation to lawmakers , Gov. Gordon announced cuts to programs that serve women, the elderly and those needing mental health and substance abuse treatment — sparking the ire of a leading Democrat.
“Agencies have been instructed to cut as much as they can between now and June 30,” Gordon’s budget chief said.
A majority of the Joint Appropriations Committee traveled to UW for an unscheduled, apparently announced, session to learn more about funding requests.
