On a recent evening near the banks of Lander’s Popo Agie River, booths sprung up, lawn chairs appeared and the assembled audience settled in for a night of free outdoor music.

The Lander LIVE concert series, which has been bringing nationally touring acts to downtown Lander for summer shows since 2015, hosted Memphis R&B band Southern Avenue and openers Lost Springs Band. Kids twirled, couples danced, vendors served drinks and — with the light growing golden — the music brought the audience to its feet. Among the attendees was a team from Wyoming Public Media, which broadcast the event live for its Wyoming Sounds series.

Lander LIVE, presented by the Lander Chamber of Commerce, is one of many musical events on tap around the state during summer’s final stretch. Upcoming outdoor shows are scheduled for venues ranging from Cheyenne to Jackson.
